COUNTY OF CITRUS, FL. A Florida man was arrested after allegedly neglecting his grandmother to death, burying her in the woods and attempting to leave the country.

On September 28, MPs were dispatched to 10244 N. Academy Drive in Citrus Springs to test their welfare.

Relatives from the city called, worried about 79-year-old Esi Gabrielsen from Dannellon. They were told conflicting stories about where she was from her grandson, 36-year-old Arthur Miller, whose deputies discovered that the house was completely abandoned – “full of old garbage, animal and human feces, and lots of cockroaches.”

Gabrielsen was not at home.

The detectives learned that Arthur Miller and his girlfriend, 32-year-old Vivian Gutierrez, had just left family members in Arkansas, claiming that they had placed Esi in a nursing home.

However, he later changed his story and said that his grandmother had died and he buried her. It was then that detectives began looking for the possibility of murder.

On Saturday, detectives discovered what they said looked like a shallow grave in a wooded area about a mile from home. The remains match the description of Ecie Gabrielsen.

On Sunday, Miller and Gutierrez were in Las Cruces, New Mexico, as they tried to pass through a border patrol checkpoint.

During the interview, Miller admitted that he neglected Gabrielsen to death and buried her in a shallow grave in the woods.

Both were arrested in the same negligence case. Miller was also charged with one serious crime involving abuse of a human body. Additional payment is expected.

“We love the loved ones of Ms. Gabrielsen with all our hearts,” said Sheriff Mike Prendergast. “This is a sad occasion to report after considering the facts, and Mrs. Gabrielsen deserved more.”

The couple will be extradited back to Citrus County in the coming days.
