SPENCER, Iowa – A Florida man is in custody after an armed robbery of convenience store Spencer on Tuesday night.
Police say that on Tuesday, October 29, just after 22:00, they responded to the Dynos store, located at 1001 S. Grand Ave, with an armed robbery report.
The seller said he had just been robbed by a man who fled the scene in a new white sedan heading west.
Clay County MPs found the car and stopped it in a Verizon parking lot located at 712 11th St SW.
Officers identified the driver as Jaime Salina Muñoz, 22, from Shalimar, Florida, and took him into custody.
Officers say Muñoz went to a Dynos store and tried to buy a can of beer. When Muñoz spoke to the clerk, he showed a firearm tucked into his belt and demanded money.
Muñoz then escaped from the cash shop and headed west in his white Chevrolet Malibu.
The officers returned the stolen money and a pistol with a carbon dioxide canister that was used in the robbery.
Spencer’s police then charged Jaime Salina Muñoz with first-degree robbery and sent him to the Clay County Jail, where he is being held on $ 25,000 bail.
