Police arrested an 82-year-old man from Lake Wales, Florida for cutting a woman’s tires because he claimed she was sitting in his favorite bingo spot.
WTVT-TV reports that Fred Smith was charged with criminal injury last Monday when police said he took an ice ax into the van of 88-year-old Ethel Britt during a weekly bingo game at Lake Ashton Retirees Club House.
Police say Smith flew out of the bingo hall and punctured Britt’s two tires because she was sitting in the chair he usually sits on. Smith was captured on surveillance video on the spot.
Lake Wales deputy chief Troy Schulze Smith says Smith confessed to the crime and expressed regret. Smith faces a risk of paying Britt $ 500 for tire damage and damages.
