A Florida man was blamed for the death of his 87-year-old grandmother, and authorities said her bed was filled with live maggots.

Brevard County sheriff’s deputies say Allen Arias rushed the unresponsive Anita Arias to the hospital last month. The woman was covered with bedsores and some were infested with larvae.

A home search warrant found frozen meals and dirty diapers, as well as blood and fecal stains on the bed and walls. Authorities said they also found full prescription bottles for Anita Arias, who suffered from dementia. Authorities said she was in good health when Allen Arias brought her home from rehab in December.

An autopsy revealed that she had died of dehydration and malnutrition, and her blood sugar was as high as measurable.

Florida Today reports that Arias was charged Thursday with aggravated manslaughter of an elderly man
