Florida Man 22 December Birthday Challange
The clams ordered by a customer at a seafood restaurant in Florida on Monday were “so small” that he called emergency services and asked a police officer to come and fix the situation.
But the clams weren’t so small that 51-year-old Nelson Agosto didn’t eat the food he ordered from Crabby’s Seafood Shack in Stuart, Florida. Stewart’s police said he ate the shellfish, though perhaps not all, and then refused to pay a police call for them to help resolve the dispute.
“This is an emergency service,” dispatcher Agosto said after giving him a non-emergency line, as the emergency call recording shows. “Hang up and call this number and they will help you.”
During the call, Agosto, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida, called the steamed clams “extremely” small portions. Then he hung up as the dispatcher told him.
However, this was not his last call to the emergency services of the day. Just minutes later, Agosto was on the phone again with 911, according to the Stewart Police Department.
This time, Agosto informed the dispatcher that the non-emergency line was not working, as evidenced by the recording of the second call. The dispatcher told Agosto that everything was working fine and then told him to hang up a second time. In the end, however, Agosto got his wish: according to the police, an officer went to investigate Agosto’s “minor” complaint.
