Ocala (WTFF) – Convicted felon was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after an investigation revealed he had firearms and ammunition.
Yesterday, the Justice Department issued a press release describing the events.
Ocala resident Michael Güell, 37, was admitted to hospital on November 28, 2018 with “gunshot wounds.”
Detectives from the Ocala Police Department arrived and Guell informed them that he had been robbed and shot by an unknown assailant.
The police found shell casings in Guell’s car.
In a second interview, he “confessed that he drank in his car and accidentally shot himself.”
In his car, the police found a semi-automatic pistol and 26 rounds of bullets.
At the time, Guell had previously been convicted of five felonies, including possession of a controlled substance, theft by seizure, and escaping and eluding a law enforcement officer. He, as a convicted criminal, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
On November 29, 2018, he was punished on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted criminal and one count of false reports to law enforcement agencies. Prison records show that he was released the next day. On May 9, 2019, he was again sent to Marion County Jail as a courtesy from federal law enforcement. By then, he had apparently moved to Spring Hill as indicated in the booking information.
